You need an active Instamojo account and a ProfitBooks account. The rest happens in two screens.
In Instamojo's developer dashboard, open API & Plugins. Note your Private API Key, Private Auth Token and Private Salt.
Go to Settings → Payment Gateway and enter the three keys. Receive payments in the bank account you used to activate Instamojo.
Open the invoice under Income → Invoices and click Generate Payment Link via Instamojo. Include the link when you email the invoice, and tick the SMS option if you have the customer's mobile number.
Step-by-step screens are in the help centre: set up the Instamojo payment gateway and add a payment link to an invoice.
Instamojo notifies ProfitBooks, and three entries you would otherwise type by hand are made for you. Pick a step to see it.
As soon as Instamojo confirms the payment, the invoice status changes to paid. Your list of outstanding invoices is right without anyone checking the bank statement.
