Is ProfitBooks really free for a design studio?

Yes. The free Startup plan gives one user 10 invoices a month, up to 50 customers and 10 products or services, expense tracking and basic financial reports. Use it as long as you like; there is no pressure to upgrade. Paid plans are on the pricing page.

Can I send a client a quotation before the invoice?

Yes. Create an estimate under Income, then Estimates, add your items, customer notes and terms. When the client approves, convert the estimate into an invoice or a sales order without typing it again.

Can I see the profit on each design project?

Yes. Tag invoices, bills, expenses and journals to a project, and its profit and loss shows the fee against every cost. Projects are part of the SMB Pro plan. See project profitability for how it works.

How do I bill a monthly retainer?

Set up a recurring invoice under Income, then Recurring Invoices, and choose monthly. On each date ProfitBooks creates a new invoice with a new number and emails it to your client with the PDF.

Can I invoice international clients in their currency?

Yes. Raise the invoice in the client's currency and enter the exchange rate. ProfitBooks records the rupee value, and the Gain or Loss report shows the effect of rate changes. Multi-currency is part of the Growth and SMB Pro plans.

Which reports help a design company most?

Profit and loss by project shows which jobs pay. Receivable Aging and Outstanding Receipts show who owes you and for how long, and a Customer Statement gives a client their full account. ProfitBooks has 50+ reports, and you can filter each one to drill into the details.
